I have my eye on this question, but my ions can't answer...

And the question that started all questions, HMMM! You ask some pretty tough questions! I imagine it might be one of the most simple but depending on context equally profound: Why? What? Who? Where? When?

Probably why or what.

Why? What? Who? Where? When? also How? are obvious candidates for the question...
What if this question had another question form and asked for a totally different kind of answer??!!

Like, pointing at a rock: what? Or thinking about something existential and mysterious: why?

The question is a mystery. I don't know it myself. I am trying to see what people come up with and if something interesting pops up, I may accept it as a candidate for the question :D

...and how far back have people actually had a sense of being big enough that they were able to entertain different possibilities like this? Not just run on instinct all the time. All automatic. Animal like. Hope someone pops in here with a profound explanation to all...

Actually there is one candidate for the question that I keep asking myself every time but also keep running away from it. I guess it's one of the most tough questions that I ever faced.
This question is: What is Death?
Another form of the question is: Shall I first kill myself to learn what Death is? Or shall I wait until it happens naturally??!!
This question is a fundamental question in life, because the basis of the religions, destinies and mysteries orbit around the concept of Death and Judgement!
Unfortunately I am not brave enough to attempt this trial. This is the last card in my deck and I do not see it ever changing. I know it may sound depressing but I can't help it!

Maybe what we should really be asking for is the first answer.

Yeah, why not?

Have asked myself that one plenty of times! Unfortunately it's not so easy to get an answer and live to tell about it. You might be interested in Flatliners if you haven't seen that, though. it's a movie on that topic. Best not try at home!!!

The conclusion I've come to for now though is: best wait and see. Whatever Death is, it's after this life, so why not just live this life to the fullest and see what happens when it's over? if there's nothing there, then at least you spent your time as well as you could have. If there is, then maybe it's not as great as life was, so it was worth it after all. And if there really is a heaven, or other great things awaiting, then there's probably a reason you should live a full life before you get there. To prove your worthy. Or to learn. A bit like how you can't appreciate the good things if you never experience any bad ones. Death comes eventually, but until then: there's so much else you can think about! So much to experience and try. The more uncertain the next life: the more important to not waste this one.

At the same time though: no pressure. If life's just stressful then it doesn't seem worth it after all. Best find the optimal balance. The way you wish to walk it.

I have watched flatliners, there was an instance of astral projection in the movie if I do remember well. It gives you an interesting show to observe. But apart from this the movie doesn't answer me. This fills me with a weird feeling as I start to see how ignorant I am.
I guess I agree with you on your conclusion!

Well, I mean: it's a potential method of seeing what's after, but yes, it doesn't really say what's after after all... but if you go by the lessons the characters get from their experiences it seems pretty close to my own conclusions. You live to learn. What's after is after. Best not rush it.

Good to hear. :)

Why... why not? Aaaargh, all these questions!!
